Popular media duo Hamish Blake and Andy Lee are reportedly set to run the Big Brother house next year as part of their career move to go for an expanded television entertainment.

Hamish and Andy have reportedly pleased Nine Network with the New York-filmed Hamish and Andy's Gap Year, which earned strong demographic ratings, raising ideas that the radio-now-TV tandem could be a hit at the Big Brother series.

Forecasts have gone around that Big Brother will launch on the back of Nine's Olympic coverage, but Nine is yet to confirm that it will take on Big Brother but insiders say plans are on track, News.com.au reports.

According to News.com.au's source, the BB series will feature "real" housemates in a "non tricked-up way," and the show is going "back to basics, like it was under (former producer) Peter Abbott."

On Twitter, the duo's account shows two updates in response to the news.

@hamishandandy: I had to read Andy's tweet twice before I believed we're not hosting BB. Newspaper wrong? Whaaa?? Crrrazy. H #kruddforbbhost

@hamishandandy: Rumors that Hamish and I are replacing Tracy Grimshaw on ACA are true however. We both can't wait to uncover shonky mechanics. A
