“Grimm” Season 6 release date has been confirmed. NBC has released digital posters announcing the show’s next and final season will premiere on Jan. 6, 2017. Actress Bitsie Tulloch has also announced on Facebook that this is the show’s final season.

Spoiler alert: This update contains spoilers from “Grimm” Season 5. The fifth season finale aired on May 20 on NBC.

“Sad to announce that Season 6 will be Grimm's last, but thrilled to be going out with a bang,” Tulloch posted on her verified Facebook page. (See related story here: “Grimm” cast members react to show cancellation.)

The confirmation of “Grimm” series finale disappointed many fans, who believed there were still many stories to explore, particularly now that Diana (Hannah R. Loyd) is unleashing her powers. However, there are viewers who believed the series is no longer as exciting as it used to be. In terms of ratings, “Grimm” Season 5 drew nearly six million viewers, a million less than its Season 4 audience.

‘Grimm’ Season 6 Premiere: Sean Renard vs Nick Burkhardt

“Grimm” Season 5 ends with Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) saving Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) from the Black Claw big bad. This is not Renard’s voluntary decision; Diana made him do it. Still, the audience has yet to find out if Nick would be expressing any gratitude for the turn of events.

For Roiz, Renard is “one of those poor souls who will never be satisfied and will always be looking for another opportunity.” This could mean that the new Portland mayor will not be on #TeamGrimm in “Grimm” Season 6.

From the first season of the show, Adalind (Claire Coffee) and Renard have pushed Nick to choose sides. In the final season of the show, it looks like Nick has made up his mind a long time ago, and he’s not changing his decision. He is going to protect the lives of both Grimms and Wesens, but only if they’re spreading evil into the world.

Renard, on the other hand, is sticking to the team where he gets authority and power. In contrast, Adalind is choosing the side that will keep her children safe. If it’s all up to her, tho, she would be staying on Nick’s side. What happens next now that Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) appears to be making a comeback, and her Eve persona is disappearing?

There are only 13 episodes in “Grimm” Season 6. Fans are hoping other networks could pick up the show from NBC.
