Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) and partner Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby) will work on a big case in the next episode of “Grimm” Season 5, literally. The synopsis and promo video of “Grimm” Season 5, episode 5 titled “The Rat King” tease that Nick’s new case will involve a 20-foot-tall mythical rat.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major “Grimm” Season 5 spoilers.

The synopsis of “Grimm” Season 5, episode 5 in a Carter Matt report teases that there are going to be three Wesen hunting at a local dump. However, Portland Police Department detectives Nick and Hank will be called to the scene because two turned up dead after encountering the mythical supernatural creature called Rat King.

The new episode’s synopsis further teased that “Grimm” character Theresa Rubel/Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni) will be taken to a hospital because she is badly wounded. Nick will also finally meet Martin Meisner (Damien Puckler) in “Grimm” Season 5, episode 5.

In an interview with Collider, the cast members of “Grimm” Season 5 teased that everyone, except Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz), will work together in their Wesen hunting group that they refer to as the Scooby Gang. “It’s great to have a team, but of late it’s all seven of us in every scene. So that takes seven times as long to shoot. Which is fun because we all have fun together, but it takes much longer,” Silas Weir Mitchell, who portrays “Grimm” character Monroe, shared.

“Grimm” cast member Reggie Lee, who portrays Sergeant Drew Wu in NBC’s supernatural drama series, admitted that joining the Scooby Gang has been fantastic because his character can help in Nick’s investigation. “But there’s been a learning curve, I still get freaked out, and hopefully there’s a ways more to go,” Lee further added.

As for the other members of the Scooby Gang, Claire Coffee teased that her character Adalind Schade will be on a totally different path as she tries to figure out how to be a human being and play nice for a change. However, Coffee added that the Wesen thing will always creep in even though Adalind tries her best to change.

Coffee further explained that everything depends if Adalind gets her Hexenbiest powers back but she still has no idea when it will happen. Meanwhile, Russell Hornsby believes that his character Hank Griffin will not get killed off in the TV series.

Hornsby thinks that every “Grimm” character has an important role in the show. “Grimm” Season 5 will return from its short hiatus with episode 5 titled “The Rat King” on Friday night, Dec. 4, at 9/8c on NBC.
