“Grimm” will return with a mournful tone in the fifth season of NBC’s supernatural TV series as Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) deals with the deaths of his mother and Juliette Silverton (Bitsie Tulloch). The synopsis and promo videos of “Grimm” Season 5 premiere episode titled “The Grimm Identity” tease on what Nick plans to do next following the chaotic events that happened in the previous season.

The synopsis of “Grimm” Season 5, episode 1 in a Dread Central report teases that Nick has got to dig deep and finally decide on what kind of person he wants to be. Losing his true love Juliette will push Nick to the path of anger and vengeance as teased in the released promo video for “Grimm” Season 5.

Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby) and Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) all notice the change in Nick’s behavior after Juliette’s death. For the fans who still hope that Juliette will return, the official “Grimm” YouTube channel has already published a promo video that previews Juliette’s funeral on the fifth season premiere.

Entertainment Weekly’s (EW) The Community reports executive producer David Greenwalt has confirmed at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) panel that the “Grimm” character is really gone. Cast member David Giuntoli has also revealed that they have seen no sign of Juliette returning in the show now that they have already filmed scenes deep into the new season.

Aside from coping with the deaths of his mother and Juliette, Nick will also be dealing with fatherhood as he raises his supernatural hybrid baby with Adalind Schade (Claire Coffee). The premiere episode’s synopsis further teased that Nick’s search for the truth will lead him to FBI Agent Chavez (Elizabeth Rodriguez).

However, Nick’s path in the new season will put him at odds with the people close to him. Meanwhile, the new season of NBC’s supernatural drama series will also introduce new characters.

“Scream: The TV Series” actress Carlson Young is set to appear in “Grimm” Season 5 as recurring character Selina Golias while “Orange Is the New Black” actress Madeline Brewer will appear in “Grimm” Season 5, episode 6 to portray the lizard-like Wesen character Billie Trump. “Grimm” Season 5 premieres on Friday night, Oct. 30, at 9/8c on NBC.
