Grey’s Anatomy’s Dr Izzie Stevens, Katherine Heigl, wants to come back on TV. Heigl is reportedly keen on starring on a new TV drama, and negotiations are already under way as spearheaded by NBC.

In the still untitled TV drama, Heigl is involved in the project not only as the series’ major star but also as its producer. The show is reportedly being written by Alexi Hawley, who is best known for hit series like ABC’s Body of Proof and Castle. Hawley’s background apparently suggests that Heigl’s upcoming project is a drama and not medical soap opera like Grey’s Anatomy, the show that propelled Heigl to stardom.

Heigl has become a household name after nabbing the role in Grey’s Anatomy since day one. She appeared in ABC's hit show since March 2005 and only quit in 2010, saying she wanted to spend more time with adopted daughter, Naleigh.

The buxom TV star had landed hit TV films such as Knocked Up and 27 Dresses, while working on Grey’s Anatomy.

Heigl is one of the few stars whose career never took off after making names for themselves. Her career stalled after she quit Grey’s Anatomy with no hit films that came after. She has since considered returning to the show and revisit the career that made her a household name. But ABC never made it happen even after asking producer Shonda Rimes to let her revisit her character as Dr Izzie.

The star’s new project is expected to become one of the major contenders among television series for the 2014-2015 season. Heigl is married to Josh Kelley.
