“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 has an official premiere date. Meanwhile, casting is underway for a new doctor in Grey Sloan Memorial, while Patrick Dempsey is reportedly looking into joining another primetime drama.

Entertainment Weekly earlier reported Patrick Dempsey may be getting ready to join another series. However, there may be complications with his contract, since he signed on for “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 a year ago.

While there have been no clear updates on what’s next for Dempsey on television, Shondaland is reportedly looking for a new doctor to fill the void left by McDreamy. TVLine lines up its McDreamy replacement recommendations in a recent report.

Meanwhile, “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 is expected to deliver more Ben (Jason George) and Bailey (Chandra Wilson). George was recently promoted to series regular, sealing more screen time for his character.

ABC will continue to hold its “Thank God It’s Thursday” line-up, featuring three Shondaland series: “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12, “Scandal” Season 5 and “How To Get Away With Murder” Season 2.

According to TVLine, ABC’s premiere date for the new seasons of these Shondaland shows has been set to Sept. 24. The fourth series to become part of Shondaland is expected to premiere mid-season.

Shonda Rhimes created “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal,” while her executive producer Pete Nowalk created “How To Get Away With Murder.” All three belong to Rhimes’ Shondaland company. A new series is joining this list: “The Catch” by Jennifer Schuur. This newbie will air after HTGAWM, which will reportedly air only 13 episodes.
