“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12, Episode 8 (“Things we lost in the fire”) aired Thursday, Nov. 19, on ABC. Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) confront their situation, while Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex (Justin Chambers) face an important question – again.

In Episode 7 (“The Me Nobody Knows”), Jackson and April get in bed. In Episode 8, April avoids Jackson for fear of hearing about divorce. Toward the end of the episode, Jackson tells April she should let him talk and not assume things. Unfortunately, the viewers did not get to find out what is it really that Jackson wanted to talk about.

Earlier in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12, Episode 8: Jackson briefly talks to Callie (Sara Ramirez) about a marriage counselor. Callie tells him that what she and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) learned from counselling is that they have “nothing” left to work out. (Is this a message to Calzona fans that it is really over between the two?)

Jo Wilson gives up on Alex. After a year of feeling like she is way outside a world that Karev shares with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Jo decides they should call it. And then Karev proposes – again. Wilson tells him he is bad at proposing. (The first Karev proposed, he was lost over his father issues. This time, he proposes just when Jo is “a mess.”)

Incidentally, Karev first proposed to Jo around the same time when Jackson stopped April’s wedding to paramedic Matthew (Justin Bruening). Known as Jolex and Japril to their avid followers, these couples’ timelines are in a somewhat parallel track. When “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 returns after hiatus, fans will know Jackson’s and Jo’s answers. It will be a long wait for the fans.

Meanwhile, Casey Sander is a must-watch in this fall finale episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.” He is brilliant as a firefighter who knew he has been in the biggest mission of his career – “the one” – the big fire that would soon end his life. ‘Greys’ viewers who also watch CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” know Sander as Mike, the somewhat detached and emotionally inaccessible father of Bernadette (Melissa Rauch).

When will “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 return? TV Guide reports the second half of this chapter will be released on Feb. 11. By then, viewers expect to understand what is really going on between Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson) and Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd).
