“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 11 ends this Thursday, May 14, on ABC. It continues the story of the man that April Kepner (Sarah Drew) wants desperately to save, and it looks deeper into Jackson Avery’s (Jesse Williams) thoughts about their marriage.

Spoiler alert: This update contains “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 11 spoilers. Read on at your own risk.

Since coming back from the combat zone with Owen (Kevin McKidd), April has become a different person. Jackson struggles with the changes he’s been noticing, but he is relieved that she is back in Seattle.

Titled “You’re My Home,” this year’s “Grey’s Anatomy” finale is expected to look into the doctors’ relationships. The new episode synopsis specifically points out the subject of priorities.

“In the 11th-season finale, the doctors are busy dealing with the aftermath of a disaster, which bonds them as it reminds them about what to prioritize in life,” reads the last “Grey’s Anatomy” synopsis of the season. The disaster discussed here was introduced in the previous episode, “Time Stops.”

Also in “Time Stops,” Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) confronts Meredith for not calling her before unplugging Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) life support. This scratches Mer’s yet-to-heal wounds, but she doesn’t get to respond to Amelia. First, the two of them have to help a man trapped in car wreck.

The situation of the man Amelia and Meredith are trying to save reminds them of Derek. The sisters-in-law are working on the car wreck victim with April and Mer’s half-sister Maggie (Kelly McCreary). Incidentally, releasing the man free from the wreckage brings to the viewers’ mind the Little Grey tragedy, featuring the late Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh).

It remains to be seen how Amelia and Meredith will resolve their conflict. Mer wants to leave the house that Derek built for their family. This stuns Amelia, who has yet to come to terms with the death of her brother.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 11 finale was written by William Harper and directed by Rob Corn. ABC has renewed the series for a twelfth season despite the death of Derek Shepherd.
