After much speculations about who would host the Australian production of Amazing Race, Grant Bowler emerged as the final choice for the role previously linked to Ben Cousins, Dancing with the Star's Daniel MacPherson and Grant Denyer.

Channel Seven had announced ealier this week Grant Bowler as host of The Amazing Race Australia. Bowler has just came fresh from a stint on the critically acclaimed US series True Blood. He will step into the host role for Seven's version of the international smash hit reality show.

"This race is going to be enormous," Bowler said.

"The route is simply amazing. We have a wonderful cast, with incredible diversity between the teams and within the teams. There are some fantastic characters that are iconically and classically Australian."

Bowler has a long-standing association with Seven, starting his television career on the police drama Blue Heelers, and on Border Security. Grant has previously hosted The Mole. He also appeared in Border Security, and the US series Lost and Ugly Betty.

"Hosting is something I haven't done in a long time and I really enjoy it," he said. "If you're going to do it, this is the show to do it on. The Amazing Race is the best format in reality television. And it's just incredibly exciting to be a part of."

The Amazing Race Australia has started production this week, and will air on Seven next year.
