The 54th Grammy Awards 2012 are tonight's talk of the town apart from the shocking death of Grammy award winner herself, Whitney Houston. With the untimely death of the world-renowned performer, the show still went on.

The red carpet has been rolled out and Hollywood celebrities are having the time of their life strutting their tuxedos and gowns on it. So what went down?

A few noteworthy dresses marched down the red carpet. Rihanna may have opted for the little black dress but she sure flaunted her best assets. Country crooner, Taylor Swift, downplayed her Grammy look this year but she still managed to win two Grammy Awards. Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj on the other hand have gone a wee bit overboard with their attires for the evening.

The best would always be the opening of each show and what better way to hit it off then a blast from the past with Bruce Springsteen plus the E Street Band. Things got heated up after that performance however on a lighter note, viewers and the audience took part in tribute for Whitney Houston.

Surprisingly, LL Cool J known for his outspoken personality invoked silence with his thoughtful and personal prayer in honor of world legend, Whitney Houston. It was an unexpected move from the actor but all the same one heartfelt moment that deserves a spot in the highlights of the Grammy Awards.

Bruno Mars also took to the stage with the best James Brown performance. The "It will Rain" singer serenaded the audience with his smooth and silky voice plus partnering it with start-stop rhythms, strategic poses and synchronized moves. If Bruno Mars rocked the stage as the single performer for the night, then the group, "Foo Fighters" rocked the place even better.

Though Rihanna and Coldplay's duet was one of the best so far, Adele taking the stage was one of the most highly anticipated events after her throat surgery last 2011. The "rolling in the Deep" singer not only won the crowd but took home the Grammy award for Song of the Year and in tears even managed to say, "Jonas Brothers, I love you as well."
