The Batman origin series “Gotham” has just wrapped up its third season in the US. As expected, fans are already talking about what they should expect in season 4, which starts airing in September.

Everyone knows Bruce Wayne would grow up to be the Dark Knight anytime soon, but what excites a lot of fans is how and when the villains reveal themselves. Fortunately, actor Ben McKenzie happens to be a fan of some villains just like everyone else.

When asked about season 4, McKenzie said there are some villains he himself is a fan and would appear in season 4, writes Den of Geek. “I’ve always been keen on the Scarecrow. It would be nice if the Scarecrow showed up,” the actor said.

The Scarecrow has been a favourite of Batman fans. He is one of the more prominent and difficult ones to deal with in the lore. Those who have been tuning in to “Gotham” might remember his presence in the first season in “The Fearsome Dr. Crane” and “The Scarecrow.” There, viewers saw an origin story for Jonathan Crane, who ended as a younger version of The Scarecrow.

The role was portrayed by guest star Charlie Tahan. Sadly, his character ended up crippled by fear in a hospital bed after overdosing with fear serum, leaving him hallucinating on scarecrows. The return of the villain has not been confirmed, and it still remains to be seen if Tahan will be back for the fourth season. It is also a possibility that the character can be recast, like what they did to Poison Ivy. At this point, David Mazouz is still a bit too young to transform into Batman. It would be better to see him fighting a villain around his age if such would happen.

Gotham” will return on September 28, 2017 on FOX in the US. It can also be viewed in Australia on SyFy.
