Batman has always been Gotham’s Dark Knight. Kids through the generations have loved Bruce Wayne and how he has defended this city from criminals. He has done a good job, but some villains have become as lovable as the main man himself. This fall, Gotham will offer a sneak peak into how things would be if it gets an unlikely hero. The Joker changes sides and will do what he can to save the city from Batman. This is the premise where the miniseries based on an alternate universe is built.

In a recent interview, Sean Gordon Murphy said that while everyone knows that The Joker is a relentless genius who can play the crowd, he considered making him a politician. He has been stripped off his psychosis and now he comes to challenge Batman without any impediments or whatsoever. To make this better, he will be doing this legally and without breaking any law. He is virtually unstoppable, unless Batman levels up his game.

Nerdist says that The Joker reinvents himself as Jack and runs for office before he takes on a mission to take down Batman. What makes this intriguing is that he has never been wrong about Batman’s impact on Gotham City. He sees Batman’s crime fighting as a cycle of violence and vengeance, so he has to step up and stop him himself.

Murphy will be showing readers a take on The Joker that fans have never seen before, notes Comic Book Movie. He will be exploring an issue that will show how morality in comic books no longer works like it used to be. Crime has evolved into something larger, and it can no longer be stopped by a masked vigilante. Batman might have been a hero, but after years and years of trying to save Gotham from criminals, he has become a failure himself.

Of course, comic book fans are not used to seeing Batman being on failure’s end, and the real question is how exactly will Joker execute his plans if he emerges victorious. Maybe he can save Gotham, and maybe Batman is the real villain after all. It is also worth wondering if this lucid interval is temporary, and if Joker will slip back to madness when he takes over.
