Joker has always been one of the most interesting and mysterious villains in any comic book. Cameron Monaghan, who plays Joker on “Gotham,” has been teasing glimpses of his character Jerome for quite some time already. Now that Jerome is back on the show, Monaghan’s cryptic posts are also back and these are getting creepier and more intriguing as to what kind of Joker he will be letting viewers see.

Inverse reports that while Jerome was killed earlier after a failed assault on Arkham, he is set to return from the dead. It also looks like he is going to be sporting a new look that goes with his new elevated status among the city’s criminals. The first photo posted by Monaghan shows a mask that covers the actor’s face that looks like it is going to imitate decaying skin. This seems like it is going to pick up where they left him since at one point in the show, when he was a corpse.

There are also other posts that have been deleted by now, one of which shows dark red circles around his eyes and another one that shows what appears to be cuts at the ends of his lips to emulate the notorious Joker smile. Based on these teasers, the flesh mask Jerome teases about might point out that his Joker might resemble the Joker from Scott Snyder’s Death of the Family arc.

In that arc, Joker asked the Dollmaker to surgically remove his face. After that, he wore his own decaying face as a mask which made it look like his own face hung loosely around his own head. Since the Dollmaker is already present in the show, all elements are already set for this to happen.

Meanwhile, in Gotham’s official Twitter page, a teaser was posted which hinted at a budding romance between Bruce and Selena. It remains to be seen, however, if this is actually where they fall in love or if “Gotham” just has something under its sleeve.

Gotham” airs on Fox every Monday at 8PM. It also airs on SyFy in Australia.
