Gotham Theo Galavan
Theo Galavan (James Frain) continues to be a menacing figure in Season 2 of "Gotham." FOX

In this week’s episode of “Gotham,” Bridgit Pike continues to light up the city with her flamethrower. Detective Jim Gordon learns the truth about her and tries to help. Meanwhile, Galavan continues to work his way toward destroying Bruce Wayne, and Kristen Kringle discovers what kind of a monster Ed Nygma really is.

In an episode titled “By Fire,” Bridgit Pike (Michelle Ventimilla) comes into her own as the Firefly. Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) helps her steal some money in an effort to gather funds for her escape. Unfortunately, before she can leave Gotham City, her brothers manage to kidnap her.

After gaining some confidence due to her newfound ability to use flame as a weapon, Bridgit does not put up with her brothers’ abuse. She ends up burning them down out of pure rage. She vows to help others who have been abused and held against their will, even if Selina advises her to only look out for herself.

Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) spots Selina in a CCTV footage with Bridgit. He talks to her and finds out about the Pikes and her abusive background. Understanding how the abuse pushed her to do her crimes, he promises to help her turn her life around. To do that, he needs to find her first.

Selina helps Jim find Bridgit, but unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Bridgit ends up accidentally burning herself while in a standoff with police officers. Selina is devastated and is completely furious at Jim for failing to help her friend. Neither of them know that despite being engulfed in flames, Bridgit survived the injuries and has been sent to a secret research facility owned by Wayne Enterprises.

Speaking of Wayne Enterprises, Bruce (David Mazouz) continues his training under Alfred (Sean Pertwee). In the meantime, his friendship with Theo Galavan (James Frain) and his family is getting stronger. It also helps that Bruce is attracted to Galavan’s niece, Silver St. Cloud (Natalie Alyn Lind).

Galavan tries to gain the trust of Bruce and starts talking to him about the intricacies behind Wayne Enterprises. Bruce opens up to Galavan, without knowing that the older man has a huge vendetta against his family.

Elsewhere, Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) overhears Kristen Kringle (Chelsea Speck) talk about how she would like her man to be more forceful and less gentle. He sees this as an opportunity to take their relationship to the next level.

On their next date, after he sees how much she is responding to his edgy and dangerous side, Ed decides to tell Kristen about what happened to her ex-boyfriend. Ed admits that he killed Ted Dougherty, thinking that Kristen will find it sexy that he killed someone to protect her.

Contrary to what Ed thought, Kristen didn’t take it well. She freaks out when she learns that he murdered her ex-boyfriend. No matter how badly her ex-boyfriend treated her, she doesn't think murder should have been the solution. When she tries to escape, Ed stops her and accidentally chokes her. She ends up dead and Ed is completely broken.

Ed then continues his dark journey down the path of becoming the Riddler as Season 2 of “Gotham” continues. The series airs Mondays at 8:30 pm ET on Fox.
