GoPro’s first drone designed for its action cameras, Karma, will hit the gadget market on Oct. 23.

American tech company GoPro, Inc. unveiled its maiden drone product Sep. 19 alongside the launch of GoPro Hero5 action camera, which will be available for sale in retail stores worldwide starting Oct. 2.

GoPro’s Karma drone costs at least US$799.99 (AU$1,039.99) to buy sans a GoPro camera or up to US$1,099.99 (AU$1,429.99) if bundled with a Hero5 Black camera.

Purchase of GoPro’s Karma drone comes with a image-stabilization grip, a three-axis camera stabilizer, a game-style controller with touch display, and a compact backpack storage.

“We’re stoked to launch Karma and show how much more it is than a drone,” GoPro’s founder and CEO, Nicholas Woodman, told the international press at Squaw Valley in California.

“Karma packs Hollywood-caliber aerial, handheld and gear-mounted image stabilization into a backpack for US$799. It’s so easy to use, a beginner can have fun straight away.”

Woodman also promised consumers that GoPro’s Hero5 Black is the “best GoPro camera ever.” Priced at US$399.99 (AU$519.99), the Hero5 Black promises professional quality 12-megapixel photos and video resolutions of up to 4K at 30 frames per second speed. Waterproof sans an enclosure up to 10 metres, GoPro’s Hero5 Black features one-button control, voice control currently supporting seven languages and automatic upload of photos and videos to cloud when the device is charging.

GoPro’s Hero5 Session accessory, meanwhile, costs US$299.99 (AU$389.99) separately. The device will also be available in stores starting Oct. 2.

“HERO5’s ability to auto-upload photos and videos to a GoPro Plus account dramatically simplifies mobile, on-the-go editing, sharing and enjoyment. This is a game-changing experience that we will continue to build upon,” Woodman stressed out.
