A Telstra customer received his pre-ordered Google Pixel smartphone ahead of the Oct. 20 launch date and shared snaps and review of the latest Android phone on social media.

Unveiled Oct. 4 in San Francisco, California, Google Pixel costs $1,079 for the 32GB model or $1,229 for the 128GB model in Australia. Meanwhile, the Google Pixel XL sets back customers $1,269 for the 32GB model or $1,419 for the 128GB handset.

Google Pixel review

According to the unnamed customer’s experience, the Google Pixel can last for a day’s use without charging.

“It's not a 100 percent to 5 percent as I can't really risk running out of battery when I'm travelling around another state, but the stats below are a days use - 0900 to 2230 without charging.

“Battery - a days use is easily feasible. I haven't had any concerns.”

A previous Google Nexus 5 user, the customer is not completely impressed with the features of his new smartphone.

“I guess the ultimate question is, if I could go round again, knowing what the phone is like, would I buy it again? I can only speak from a user coming from the N5 which ran out of update life with Nougat 7.0 and so I'd say, yes I would buy it again. However, if I had a newer Nexus or had to pay the outright cost ($1000+ in Australia for the 32gb) I honestly would not be happy in the phone.”

“It's a nice phone, well built with some design issues. (It has) a solid sunny day camera but a lack of features for the price makes it difficult to recommend to anyone with a phone newer than 2014.”

Google Pixel 32gb - I'm back, as promised, with some battery stats and weekend use report from Android

Both Google Pixel and Pixel XL run on 4GB RAM, Android 7.1 Nougat interface and Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Both handsets feature 12 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera. However, the Google Pixel model has a smaller 5-inch screen and 2770mAh battery, unlike Google Pixel XL’s 5.5-inch screen size and 3450mAh battery.
