Non-Nexus Android users can now experience the new Google Now launcher on their devices, which ships with latest preview of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Until now, Nexus users were the only ones privileged to avail of the preview.

Earlier this week, Google revealed the name of the latest Android 6.0 as “Marshmallow” along with the Android M Developer Preview 3 images for Nexus devices. The Google Now Launcher from M Preview 3 is now available for download from APK Mirror rolling under version 1.2.large.

To install the Google Now launcher for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, users will have to navigate to their phone’s Settings page. Tap the 'Unknown Sources' tab under the Security option to be able to sideload the installation file. Users would need to run the complete preview ROM on their devices to get the most of the launcher.

The download will take up 14.5MB of space. It is compatible with phones running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or later OS versions. However, Google’s latest Android M Developer Preview 3 does not encompass all its features. Nine new wallpapers featuring landscapes and vector graphics will accompany the Google Now launcher for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, reports NDTV Gadgets.

The third developer preview of the new software does not introduce any significant new features apart from few performance improvement fixes. It is very close to the final version. Thus, it is expected that the next major release is going to be the final version of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The first developer preview of latest version of Android was released at the developer conference of Google I/O in May followed by the second preview in July. Earlier this week, Google mentioned that the Developer Preview 3 would offer an updated UI and API, a new boot screen, and the fingerprint API. Supported Nexus devices include Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus9 and Nexus Player.
