Google has slashed the price of the newly released LG Nexus 5X smartphone. In the US, both 16GB and 32GB storage versions of the smartphone can be now availed with a price cut of $30 (AU$42) from its original pricing.

Through an official tweet, Google has announced a discount of $30 (AU$42) on the 16GB and 32GB storage models of LG Nexus 5X in the US. The 16GB Google Nexus 5X is now available for $349 (AU$498) whereas the 32GB variant is now available for $399 (AU$570).

Before the $30 (AU$42) price cut, both the variants were available for $379 (AU$541) and $429 (AU$612), respectively. Even though Google has not stated that it is a permanent price reduction, Phone Arena has reported that it seems to be a permanent one.

If it turns out to be true, even other retailers in the US like Amazon and Best Buy may match their price of Google Nexus 5X with that of Google Store. There is no price cut available on the Google Nexus 6P smartphone. It is currently available with a price tag of $499 (AU$712) for the base model.

Last year, Google had released a Google Nexus 5X smartphone manufactured by LG as well as a Google Nexus 6P smartphone manufactured by Huawei. It is said that Google partnerned with Huawei, a Chinese brand, to launch its Google Play Store for Chinese markets and to popularize the Chinese smartphone brand in the US. The Google Nexus 6P was launched to replace the Motorola Nexus 6 from 2014.

The Google Nexus 5X is the successor of the popular LG Nexus from 2013. It is fitted with a full HD display of 5.2-inch, a Snapdragon 808 SoC and 2GB of RAM. It features a 12.3 MP rear camera, a front-facing camera of 5 MP, a snappy fingerprint scanner, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and a 2,700 mAh battery.
