Google's Nexu 9 tablet has been making the headlines particularly as the debate around its actual name continues. With HTC reportedly making the device, there are high expectations for both companies. However, recent market trends have been challening the tablet sector with Apple also experiencing iPad sales slump. Why is Google Nexus 9 a good venture for the company? What can people expect and gain from the device?

The Wall Street Journal reported previously that Google chose HTC to create its Nexus tablets. The two companies have worked before to create a nexus product. HTC was first tapped to developed the first Nexus handset. The device featured 1GHz CPU with Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon chipset. Other features include 5MP auto-focused camera, accelerometer, 512MB RAM and compass. However, the company left HTC for Samsung because of smaller scale and poor marketing according to Seeking Alpha.

This time, the partnership may bode well for both companies. Google has been finding ways to expand its supplier base to avoid giving one company manufacturing advantage. HTC is a powerhouse. Samsung's diversification is a threat to Google as the Korean tech giant has been working on its Tizen OS possibly moving away from the Android platform. HTC has not been as fortunate with its smartphone sales. If Asus' performance following the Nexus 7 is any indication then HTC can expect great things from partnering up with Google once more.

According to BGR, the release of the Nexus 9 was pegged on October 16 before new leads suggested that it will be October 24 instead. PC Advisor notes that the device will start around $399 for the most affordable option while the 32GB will be priced at $499. Reported features include: 8.9-inch display, 2048 x 1440 resolution with pixel density of 281 ppi, nVidia Logan Tegra K1 64-bit processor, and 2GB RAM.
