iPad users will now be able to use a native version of the Google Calendar. This will be brought by an update that brings the organisational features of the application in an app designed for the device and its Apple operating system (OS).

This will be the first time the application will finally have a version compatible with the device since the Calendar was released in 2006. The app will have its core features intact.

Users can see their calendars and those that other users have shared with them. Moreover, the application offers quicker scheduling options that the Calendar is famous for. This makes some Apple users choose Google's programme over the native Apple calendar.

The organisational features of the app make use of the G Suite's advanced cloud infrastructure. This allows documents to be seamlessly synchronised with a diverse set of contacts.

The company also has more plans for the application. Google Calendar will eventually include a "Today" widget that allows users to see scheduled events for the day. Users may be able to see this in their Notificaton Center in future updates.

However, PC World explains that the wait for an Apple version of the Calendar can be explainable. This is because Google is the company behind Android, the rival of Apple's iOS operating system.

Regardless, this does not mean there were not any versions of the Calendar present for Apple devices. For instance, there is a version of the application for the iPhone that could be used in the tablet before. However, unlike the recent version, the older versions are not optimised for the iPad.

There are also other features that users can use to fully optimise their scheduling experience. For instance, users of Calendar can actually create different "calendars" for specific themes. They also have the option to colour-code these calendars for easy access.

Its scheduling system also lets users choose if the app should recommend a time, or if it can "match" schedules. This feature lines up the schedules of users that make use of the calendar and the app will find a compatible free time. This can be done easier as Calendar also has a "World Clock" feature that can show time in different time zones.

Events in the Calendar can also be connected to Google Hangouts. This means long-distance chat or video call meetings are automatically set in the time given.

Organisers of meetings can also attach complementary files in the specific event tab. They can also specify meeting places by integrating the event with Google Maps.

Google Calendar is part of the company's G Suite. The Suite is a diverse set of "smart" applications designed for groups and teams. The applications include Gmail, Docs, Drive and the aforementioned Calendar.
