The Portland Trail Blazers (41-41) will host the Golden State Warriors (67-15) in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series on Saturday evening. The Warriors took a 2-0 series lead Wednesday with a comfortable 110-81 victory at the Oracle Arena.

Both teams have been marred by injury concerns. While Kevin Durant remains "questionable," Blazers centre Jusuf Nurkic was listed as "doubtful" at the end of Friday's practice session. The Warriors are also dealing with injuries to Shaun Livingston (finger), Matt Barnes (foot) and Kevon Looney (hip) - all three of whom will not be taking the court on Saturday. It's most likely that Durant will also sit out of the game.

Durant sat out of Game 2 with a strained calf after missing 19 consecutive regular season games with a left knee injury. "They (Warriors coaching staff) don't want to risk reinjuring it or I might be out for a long time. I understand. I'm trying to look at the big picture. But I definitely want to be out there. It's unfortunate (that I have to face injury issues again). You work so hard to get back. I played well the first game (of the series). But it's part of sports. I just have to push through it," Durant said Friday when addressing his injury woes, via ESPN.

Steve Kerr, coach of the Warriors, acknowledged that the team will not rush Durant back. "We'll see how he does. Until he is 100 percent, we have to be cautious and make the right decision. If it were Game 7 of the finals, he'd play. We're not talking about anything that could damage his career. But it's something that could potentially get worse and knock him out for two weeks. Then it's not worth it. Kevin is frustrated, especially coming off the six weeks of inactivity. He's dying to be out on the floor. It's driving him nuts, but he knows this is the right approach."

Damian Lillard, the Trail Blazers point guard, realises that his team is in a must-win situation on Saturday. "We have to get a win. You don't want to go into Game 4 down 3-0. That's dangerous territory. We'll feel a lot better if we go into Game 4 down 2-1, looking to tie up the series. We have a special home-court advantage because of the way our fans operate, but (players from) any team will say they have an advantage at home. You sleep in your own bed. You're in your comfort zone. You're on your home floor. Your crowd will be behind us," said Lillard, who led the Trail Blazers to the second-round of last year's postseason.

The winner of the Warriors vs Blazers first-round series will face either the Los Angeles Clippers (51-31) or Utah Jazz (51-31) in the second-round of their 2017 NBA Playoffs. Odds makers expect the Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers to reach the NBA Finals for a third consecutive time in June.
