The Golden State Warriors (18-3) and Los Angeles Clippers (16-6) will renew their rivalry in a heavyweight clash at the Staples Center on Wednesday evening.

The Warriors smoked the Clippers 120-75 when the western conference giants last met, during a preseason game on Oct. 4. Since then, both teams have gone on several winning streaks and will field fully healthy squads for Wednesday's nationally-televised game.

With the exception of their 132-127 double overtime loss to Houston Rockets last Thursday, the Warriors have won nine out of their ten games and are firing on all cylinders a month into the new season, leading the league in points per game (120.2), assists (32), field-goal percentage (50.3) and steals (9.6).

Warriors eyeing seventh straight over Clippers

The Clippers have hit a bit of a funk, having lost four out of their last six games, despite an impressive 113-94 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers last Thursday. They will face the Warriors a few nights after blowing a 15-point lead against the Indiana Pacers during a 111-102 defeat to Paul George & Co. at home.

The Warriors-Clippers rivalry has been one of the league's fiercest in recent years, dating back to Game 7 of their playoff series in 2014 which was won by Los Angeles. Since then, the Warriors have had the better of Doc Rivers' team, having won six in a row against the Clippers, including the last three at the Staples.

Despite winning the last six clashes, every Warriors-Clippers game brings out the best in both teams and All-Star forward Blake Griffin has won't deny that its not just another regular season fixture. "They're a top team in the West, a top team in the league no matter what. Yeah, it's a different type of game than if you're playing the last seed in the East. Absolutely it is. I'd be lying to come in and just say it's a regular game.

"Anytime there's hype. ... This is the most media I've seen before a game this whole season. Obviously, you guys will make it that," Griffin told the Los Angeles Times ahead of the first of four Warriors-Clippers games this season.

The Warriors are fresh off their 142-106 rout of the Indiana Pacers which saw Klay Thompson score a career-high 60 points in just 29 minutes. "I've never seen anything like it. In 29 minutes? And not even play the fourth quarter? That's unheard of. I mean I've watched Kobe (Bryant) score (81) and 62 in three quarters but to be on a team and be at the game and be on the sideline to watch it, that was crazy," Warriors star Kevin Durant said of his teammate, per the Bay Area News Group.
