The Golden State Warriors (33-6), on a two-game winning streak, will host the Detroit Pistons (18-22) in a nationally-televised game Thursday at the Oracle Arena.

On Tuesday, the Warriors were pummelled on the glass by Miami Heat centre Hassan Whiteside, who finished with 28 points and 20 rebounds. Even though Golden State prevailed with a 107-95 victory, their apparent weaknesses against bigger and more physical teams was once again exposed. On Thursday, the Warriors will once again try to counter a considerable presence in the paint in the form of Andre Drummond.

After the win in Miami, Steve Kerr admitted that his relatively smaller frontcourt would have to adjust according to opponents. "Hassan Whiteside is a handful. Whether he's scoring inside or not, he's a threat in there and you have to honour that," the Warriors coach said, via ESPN.

Golden State Warriors must deal with Andre Drummond

During Game 1 of the two-match regular season series, Drummond got into foul trouble and managed a reasonable 9 rebounds and 15 points from 30 minutes. This time around, Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy is hoping for his All-Star centre to replicate his performance from last January when Drummond tallied 14 points and 21 rebounds to hand the 73-9 Warriors one if their nine regular season defeats.

The Pistons are coming off a disappointing loss at Sacramento Kings Tuesday when they blew a nine-point, fourth-quarter lead before falling to a 100-94 defeat. After the loss, coach Van Gundy called out his players for lack of hustle in the paint. "They (Sacramento) outrebounded us by 11, we gave them 13 threes and our ball movement was just ridiculous in the second half. We're playing everything one-on-one and wouldn't pass the ball. That's why we ended up where we are."

When the Warriors last beat Pistons on Dec. 26, Kevin Durant scored 32 points in just 31 minutes courtesy an offensive explosion during the third quarter. After the Pistons fought hard to make a game of it, Warriors forward Draymond Green made a clutch basket with 1:31 left in the game as Golden State escaped with a win.

After a two-game road trip, the Warriors return home to host Detroit (Thursday), Cleveland Cavaliers (Monday) and Oklahoma City Thunder (Wednesday) before setting off on a four-game road trip.
