Kiwi choreographer Parris Goebel’s work is starting to pay off as Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” music video has been nominated for three categories at the MTV’s Video Music Awards. The nominees were announced Tuesday.

Goebel took to social media her delight on the news affirming her talent.

“This is just crazy. My work has been nominated in 3 VMA categories,” the 24-year-old dancer-actress of Samoan descent said in Instagram, wherein she posted the list of the nominated music videos.

“What a beautiful reminder to myself that anything is possible. Don't give up on your dreams, if this Polynesian high school drop out from Auckland NZ can do it, you can do it too,” she told her followers and fans.

Before the MTV VMA nominations, Goebel has already been an award-winning choreographer known for Polyswagg style and for leading the all female dance crew ReQuest.

In 2009, Goebel was awarded the Street Dance New Zealand Choreographer of the Year and Dancer of the Year. She was awarded the 2012 World of Dance Female Choreographer of the Year in the US and earned the same citation for 2014 at the World of Dance Industry Awards in Los Angeles. Recently, Goebel finished working on the “So You Think You Can Dance” hit television show in Australia.

Goebel also appeared on Bieber’s “Sorry” music video, which she choreographed in 2015. As of press time, the music video has been viewed over 1.6 million times since its publication last Oct. 22 on YouTube.

Bieber’s “Sorry” is a contender for the “Video of the Year” and “Best Pop Video,” and his “Purpose: The Movement” is nominated for “Breakthrough Long Form Video.”

“Big kisses to the incredible dancers that helped me bring this project to life. I think we made something really special,” she added.

The 33rd annual Video Music Awards will air live in the US on Aug. 28 from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
