A first look picture of “Godzilla: King of Monsters” has been released online. The picture shows the creature going nuclear in the film. Director Michael Dougherty has confirmed that there will be a five year time jump in the plot, following the events of the 2014 movie.

The first look picture of the upcoming movie posted on Entertainment Weekly has been titled “atomic breath,” which means the creature will be going nuclear in the next film. The report confirms that the movie is set five years after the events in the 2014 film, which should give enough time for the world to adjust to the new reality of giant creatures sharing the earth with people.

Dougherty pointed out that the world tends to overreact to a major incident, and the introduction of a giant lizard is no different. While, the people may have adjusted to seeing Godzilla there is still endless paranoia and speculation, which is primarily about whether there are more giant creatures who are yet to show themselves.

The people are right to be fearful because there are more such giant creatures out there who are set to introduce themselves in a destructive wave in the next film. Some of the creatures that the fans can expect to see are the three-headed King Ghidorah, the flying butterfly-like creature Mothra, and the creature Rodan that can level buildings with the force of its wings.

“Rodan’s been kind of a sidekick character, but I’ve always had a soft spot for him,” the director said. Dougherty teased that Rodan is a “winged A-bomb,” and is in a way more powerful than Godzilla. “I think we’ve done him justice,” the director said.

As far as the atomic breath is concerned, Dougherty said that it happens at a key moment in the film. The atomic breath is apparently a “call to arms.”
