One man got the creative eureka of putting up a massive, rainbow-coloured billboard with cartoons on them, declaring "God loves Gays" on Monday. After collecting funds from a crowdfunding site, it has come out in public display in Topeka town in Kansas, U.S.

This town is stated to be the home of "some of the most vicious homophobes in the world", according to a report in mamamia. The new pro-Gays billboard is clearly aimed to challenge it, the Westboro Baptist Church, a group that claims to hate fags because "God hates fags", according to it. The members picket a lot of funerals with signs that declare their beliefs.

In their site, the Gay gang declares that when people see villains such as the Westboro "existing in the world, and no one doing anything about it, it disheartens them greatly." Some people argue that it is better to ignore the bigots, that all that Westboro wants is more attention. However, the Gay group declares: "While I respect this opinion, I contend that evil is only allowed to exist because good people do nothing." They declare that the time has come for "good people" to fight back with love!

The drive has caught on, mainly because of the passion, and also due to The Facebook God message, which is a social media personality with more than 1.7 million members who have liked it. It has already touched its goal of getting $50,000. The God Loves Gays' drive has now crossed $83,000. One portion of the collected funds has been sent to the National Alliance to End Homelessness. They have also bought a number of bus ads for the Topeka campaign, and decided that if the campaign reaches $100,000, "God" will put up another billboard in Utah.

The Westboro Baptist Church's reaction was typical. "Thank God for that lying billboard! Every soul that sees it will either rejoice for the lie and the vain hope of afflicting the servants of God at WBC," said one member. Countering them, another priest at the Gosford Anglican Church in NSW, who periodically puts up opposing signs that are interestingly "progressive", erected a billboard that reads: "Dear Christians, some ppl are gay, get over it, love God."
