A quirky game featuring goats is about to get a bit quirkier, as Coffee Stain Studios has announced a stand-alone expansion for their hit game “Goat Simulator,” with the ever-popular zombie theme in “GoatZ.” The expansion will indeed be stand-alone, as users interested in the inherent silliness of seeing a zombie goat will not need a copy of “Goat Simulator” to play “GoatZ.”

The name “GoatZ” is an obvious parody or homage to another popular zombie game “DayZ.” Meanwhile, the gameplay has changed as well, going from a free-roaming game with physics that make no sense, into a free-roaming shoot-em-up, which bears similarities to “Rust” by Gary Newman. The developers have acknowledged the similarities, telling Gamespot that they hope they don’t get sued in a jokingly manner.

It’s clear from the gameplay trailer that players are meant to revel at the absurdity seen in “GoatZ,” which is probably what fans of “Goat Simulator” have been expecting. After all, few games offer players the chance to play as a goat packed with machine guns, bombs and acid.

Keeping up with the many trends of the zombie game genre, Pocket Gamer has confirmed that there will be a crafting system in “GoatZ.” Players will be able to craft weapons and a bunch of other items that are either beneficial or silly, for the sake of being silly.

A trailer was released, so players can witness the all-out craziness of “GoatZ” below. While the idea of a machine gun equipped goat was crazy enough, developer Coffee Stain Studios ramps up the insanity with fire-breathing elephants, goat driven cars and more physics that would make very little sense in the real world.

Also confirmed are a number of unlockable goats in the game, each with a unique special ability to stand out. Fans curious about these new goats will have to purchase the game and check them out for themselves.

“GoatZ,” a stand-alone expansion of “Goat Simulator” DLC will be available on May 7 for PC, MAC, and Linux, along with iOS and Android devices. It’s not yet sure if the “Goat Simulator” DLC will be available to the Xbox versions of the game.
