Devastated Lea Michele is said to have made an emotional trip to the hotel where her co-star boyfriend Cory Monteith's died of a heroin and alcohol overdose.

The 26-year-old Glee star visited the makeshift memorial outside the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Canada where fans have showed their respects by laying flowers and tributes.

Meanwhile former Disney star Demi Lovato has spoken out in defence of Cory's substance abuse, saying he was a 'tragic victim of addiction'.

In the wake of Cory Monteith's tragic passing, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy has struggled with how to move forward. Describing Monteith as an "older son," he acknowledges that he and his fellow producers, along with Lea Michele, Monteith's co-star and real-life girlfriend, have had to discuss all of their options.

John Stamos, who had guest starred on "Glee", wrote, "First day on Glee he said to me, I can't believe I'm working w/ Uncle Jesse- I can't believe I'm writing this tweet. Heartbreaking. RIP Cory." Stamos later added, "We talked about how lucky he felt to be alive-and sober. We talked about playing drums. Glad I knew you Cory."

Adam Shankman, who guest directed some episodes of "Glee", was said to have had positive phone conversations with the star earlier that day. He was shocked and heartbroken over the news, and wrote, "Goodbye my amazing and beautiful friend. The lights in my world just grew dimmer. The world just lost one of our best. I love u so much..."

Dot-Marie Jones, who plays Coach Beiste on "Glee," said, "I HAVE NO WORDS! MY HEAR IS BROKEN CORY WAS NOT ONLY A HELL OF A FRIEND HE WAS ONE AMAZING MEN THAT I WILL HOLD CLOSE TO MY HEART FOREVER."

Executive producers of "Glee" released this statement: "We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved once."
