Nokia has recently unveiled Lumia 930, its latest flagship, which is a slim and stylish Lumia Icon smartphone variant. The Lumia Icon is an exclusive carrier device launched in the U.S. a few months back that has been garnering favorable reviews.

Two Omissions

Lumia 930 comes with great stuff but misses two features that may keep it from being the best Windows Phone. It has no micro SD card and no Glance screen. The lack of micro SD card is tolerable considering Lumia 930 works with 32 GB of internal storage, which seems to be fine. Glance is a bit of the matter, and the Lumia 930 not having it is an odd omission.

Glance Screen

Nokia introduced Glance screens to all Lumia models running Windows Phone 8, except Lumia 520 and 521. Glance screens were added with the 2013 Amber GDR 2 summer update. The screens let users see the time on the device without backlighting. In the future, it will also display basic notifications.

With Lumia 1020

Compared to Lumia 1020, Lumia 930 will come with the latest Windows Phone 8.1 while 1020 has Windows Phone 8. The 930 sports a super AMOLED 5-inch touchscreen, 1080 x 1920 resolution, 137 mm x 71 mm x 9.8 mm dimension and weighs 167 grams. Lumia 1020 has a 4.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 768 x 1280 resolution, 130.4 mm x 71.4 mm x 10.4 mm dimension and weighs 158 grams.

Lumia 930 comes with a 20 MP main camera where pixel resolution is 4992 x 3744, with dual LED flash and autofocus. Its secondary camera is 1.2 MP. Lumia 1020 has a main 41MP camera that comes with 7152 x 5368 pixels, LED flash and autofocus. Its secondary camera is also of 1.2 MP.

When it comes to processors, 930 is packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2 GHz while the 1020 counterpart has Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon in the dual core processor of 1.5 GHz Krait.

For storage, 930 and 1020 both have 2 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory offering. No option for expansion as there is no microSD slot. The battery for 930 is 2420 mAh while 1020 has a lesser 2000 mAh.

Both devices come from the same phonemaker and are superb. Lumia 1020 excels in the camera department but with the 930's offering of Windows Phone 8.1 and other features, it indeed is better than its old mates.
