“Girl Meets World” season 3 is currently in the works. The show will be significantly different from the previous two as Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) and her friends step into new challenges in high school.

Recent news surfaced that Reginald VelJohnson will appear in the upcoming third season on the Disney Channel. Reginald will play a cop in the new series. The actor is not new to the role, since he also played a police officer for nine seasons on “Family Matters.” In the ABC series, VelJohnson played Carl Winslow, who was constantly pestered by his neighbour Steve Urkel.

Ben Savage, who plays Cory Matthews on “Girl Meets World” and the star of the original series “Boy Meets World,” shared his excitement over the news that Reginald would guest star in at least one episode.

“Having him here, felt like stepping back into my childhood. He’s a terrific actor and such a nice guy,” Savage told E! News.

Both “Boy Meets World” and “Family Matters” were in the same TGIF block for five seasons in the 90s. VelJohnson has also appeared in several other projects such as “Mike & Molly,” “The Neighbors,” “Hart of Dixie,” “Chuck” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” He has also appeared in movies like “Die Hard” and “Ghostbusters.”

According to The Bitbag, he will not reprise his role as Carl Winslow in “Girl Meets World,” but another police officer. “Family Matters” was set in Chicago, while “Girl Meets World” is set in New York City. VelJohnson’s presence may have some references from the original series, which means that the kids may be potentially crossing the line every now and then, with the cop closely monitoring them.

Cinema Blend notes that “Girl Meets World” has featured a number of guest stars from the TGIF family, such as Rider Strong, William Daniels, Anthony Tyler Quinn, Matthew Lawrence, Trina McGee, Will Friedle, M.C. Gainey, Jane Lynch, Jackee Harry and Cloris Leachman among others.

“Girl Meets World” Season 3 is expected to premiere on Disney Channel. More news and updates on the show and cast are expected soon.
