When Netflix first announced that it was working with “Gilmore Girls” executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino on a revival last year, fans of the series were delighted at the news. The four episodes of “A Year In The Life” that followed generally lived up to expectations but left viewers wanting more as well -- and Netflix might just answer with another season.

Cast members were questioned almost immediately about another “Gilmore Girls” season. However, no one really hinted at the same, and no official announcements have been made either. But Netflix has since confirmed that it is an actual possibility.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer admitted that the streaming site is hopeful that another season will be produced. “We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, [and] it delivered what they hoped,” he told the UK Press Association (via Barrhead News). “The worst thing is to wait a couple of years for your favorite show to come back and for it to disappoint you, but they sure delivered and people were really excited about more, and we have been talking to them about the possibility of that.”

With Netflix’s help, “Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life” allowed Sherman-Palladino to deliver the ending that she had originally planned for the series. However, it left audiences with a lot of questions, the biggest of which is arguably how Rory Gilmore’s life will pan out next. The last episode divulged that Alexis Bledel’s Rory was pregnant and it seemed that she was going to proceed as a single mother. But the show also indicated that Milo Ventimiglia’s Jess Mariano was not over her. On the other hand, it looked as if Rory’s relationship with Matt Czuchry’s Logan Huntzberger finally reached its end.

Sarandos clarifies that the talks with Sherman-Palladino and her husband Dan Palladino are still “very preliminary” at this point. While this means that it is not sure whether or not another “Gilmore Girls” season is in the works, it does give fans of the series some hope. The show, as noted by Screener TV, has a lot of material to cover. This includes Rory’s pregnancy, Logan’s role in it, the possibility of kids for Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Luke (Scott Patterson), as well as Emily’s more relaxed and low-key lifestyle.

“A Year In The Life” was released in November 2016 and can still be viewed on Netflix International. The original seven seasons of “Gilmore Girls” are also available for streaming.
