Grammy winners Gillian Welch and David Rawlings have announced that they will be touring Australia in January and February 2016 after an 11-year hiatus. The music duo who both performs as Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings Machine, last visited Australia in 2004. They will kick off their Australian tour on Jan. 30, 2016 at the Perth Concert Hall.

The Welch and Rawlings 2016 Australian tour was announced via press release, which is posted on their official websites. It will be a two-part tour. The first part will be played under the name Gillian Welch and the second part as Dave Rawlings Machine.

The Gillian Welch part will begin in Perth and end in Brisbane. Then, the duo will perform as Dave Rawlings Machine from Brisbane to Melbourne. They will be accompanied by three musicians in the second part of their tour.

Welch and Rawlings won’t be flying from venue to venue because they have chosen to go on a road trip to make their 2016 tour in Australia memorable. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the duo will cross the Nullarbor in high summer.

“We are very excited, once again, to be bringing our songs and our selves, and a few of our good friends, all the way from Tennessee to the land of Australia way down under. We will be driving the wild back roads from Perth to Melbourne, Sydney to Brisbane… come out and say howdy when we roll in to town!” read the statement from Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.

Rawlings’ latest album is “Nashville Obsolete,” which was released on Sept. 18. Meanwhile, Welch’s 2011 album “The Harrow and the Harvest,” gave her a Grammy Best Contemporary Folk Album nomination. Rawlings co-wrote the songs in the album. He also produced it.

The pair released their Dave Rawlings Machine album “A Friend of a Friend,” in 2009. Their 2001 album “Time (The Revelator),” received numerous nominations and was included on several Best album of the year lists, including The New Yorker’s Twelve Favorites from our 2001 CD Rotation and E! Online’s Top 25 CDs.

Tickets for the duo’s Australian tour in 2016 will go on sale from Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 9 am and can be bought from Ticketmaster outlets.
