"Ghostbusters 3" is finally happening. Director Paul Feig has confirmed that he is writing and directing the film and revealed in his tweet that the remake would feature hilarious women as the Ghostbusters. When the film was announced there was an immense speculations in regard to cast of the film. It was confirmed earlier this month that remake would take a departure from male Ghosbusters and would pave way for female Ghosbusters.

Melissa McCarthy was rumoured to play the Ghostbuster, but she recently turned down the rumour during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' U.S. talk show on Monday. She said that she is not a part of it. However, Melissa's "St Vincent" co-star Bill Murray thinks that she would do a swell job as a Ghostbuster.

"Melissa [McCarthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny -- God, she's funny!. I like this girl Linda Cardellini a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there," Murray said according to The Sun.

The first two Ghostbusters film starred Bill Murray and the actor hinted that he would like to be part of the film even if it has all the female lead. Gillian Anderson and Lena Dunham have also admitted that they would like to become the part of sci-fi classic remake. Feig is known for films such as "The Heat" and "Freaks And Geeks." In regard to the "Ghostbuster 3" he said that the film is going to have a fresh aspect to it as he does not want to go back to the original. In the original "Ghostbusters" Harold Ramis played Egon Spengler, however, the actor passed away in February 2014. Paul feels that the original film was fantastic and he doesn't want to do anything similar, so he has reportedly decided to "restart" it.

Paul said to E! Weekly that he loves to work with funny women and as a filmmaker that is his favorite thing to do. For "Ghostbusters 3" Feig would once again unite with "The Heat" screenwriter Katie Dippold.
