George RR Martin has a huge toy collection in his office. The celebrity author shared a picture of a White Walker bust from his office, and his fans quickly started requesting him to finish “Winds of Winter” as quickly as possible.

“#chillin,” Martin wrote in his post of the White Walker bust. The mythical creature from “A Song of Ice and Fire” series can be seen wearing sunglasses and a medallion of New Orleans Saints football team.

The post immediately got responses from the fans, with many wanting the author to finish the highly anticipated book. Some fans also came to defend Martin, telling him to take his time. Some fans also pointed out how exquisite his writings are and how he is “making history” with his words. Looking at the White Walker wearing the Saints medallion, one fan joked that the reason the Others want to kill everyone and wipe out civilizations is because they are Saints fans.

Many are getting impatient about the release of “Winds of Winter,” but perhaps the one man who wants the book out more than anyone else is Martin himself. The author has curtailed social engagements and interviews substantially; he has hardly travelled outside his home city of Sante Fe in the past year.

Each book in “A Song of Ice and Fire” is massive, with multiple kingdoms and characters all moving in their respective directions simultaneously. To keep track of the moving parts in the books is already a herculean task. Add to this the fact that the author has to keep track of all that has happened and the things yet to take place, especially when it comes to characters like Bran, who jump timelines.

Martin was hopeful of releasing “Winds of Winter” this year. However, the author has missed his deadlines. The author is on the verse of completing the book, and the delay may be because he tends to rewrite a lot of the pages he has already finished.
