George Clooney had once taken a vow that he would never get married again. He had said, "I won't marry again." He was married to Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993. Like everyone, he had no idea about what he was going to do two decades later. On Saturday evening, 27 Sept, 2014, the Hollywood actor took the plunge again and the photos say that he was not experiencing any wedding jitter. He was seen grinning from ear to ear.

A one-line statement from Clooney's long-time representative, Stan Rosenfield, confirmed that the 53-year-old Hollywood actor is now a married man. He and British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, 36, exchanged vows in a private ceremony at the luxurious, seven-star hotel Aman Canal Grande Venice on Saturday evening in Venice, Italy.

People has quoted Rosenfield as saying, "George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were married today [Saturday] in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy."

Clooney and his friends and family travelled in taxi-boats in the Grand Canal from Hotel Cipriani, where the groom's side was staying, to hotel Aman, where Alamuddin had spent the night before. Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso, U2 singer Bono, super model Cindy Crawdford and her husband Rande Gerber, Bill Murray were seen taking taxi-boats to reach the venue.

The groom's flotilla was the last to arrive at the venue, according to Associated Press (AP). Clooney was seen waving to hundreds of onlookers who were on the canal banks, bridge and in other taxi-boats.

The ceremony at Hotel Aman was an intimate affair. The bride Alamuddin was not seen outside the Aman's tent-covered pier. As soon as he reached the venue, Clooney rubbed his hands and disappeared into the pier, AP reports.

Clooney and Alamuddin started dating in Oct. 2013. They got engaged on April 22, 2014. The two obtained their marriage license in August. The official ceremony is expected to be held on Monday at Venice's town hall, the 14th-century Ca' Farsetti palace, according to reports.
