After the many teasers and countdowns to the next clues, an individual has already stepped forward to claim being the mastermind behind the whole Survivor 2299 hoax that teased several upcoming Fallout 4 clues.

Coming out at Reddit as DCHoaxer, the individual is now taking questions in a Reddit AMA thread. It seems that Bethesda has gotten in touch with DCHoaxer and this has propelled the hoaxer to pull the plug on the gig.

His reasons for doing the very complex series of countdowns and teases? He just wanted to do them. "I'm one of these 'selfish bastards with a lot of money' so I wanted to release a CGI trailer. But Pete Killed my plans. Maybe I'll release it later along with the script so somebody else can use it!"

By a lot of money, DCHoaxer means that he spent over $900 just to push through with the hoax. Though the hoaxer did say that he wanted to put an accelerator on Bethesda's plans using the Fallout 4 hoax web site.

"I wanted to force Bethesda to reveal something during VGX on 12/11, and bring /r/Fallout community together (for at least 3 weeks). Unfortunately, this plan failed."

There were mixed reactions from those who responded in Reddit, but there were, surprisingly, a lot who were more in awe than in hate.

"For on, really impressive work. I've personally never seen such a planned out, elaborate and thought out REAL marketing campaign for a video game for a long time, maybe even Halo 2," said deadlyslob.

Some are still curious as to what will happen once the countdown reaches zero, while others are waiting for when DCHoaxer releases the Fallout 4 script as a fanfiction.
