It will be about a year or so before “Game of Thrones” (GOT) Season 7 airs, but fans were excited to see a trailer at San Diego Comic-Con on July 22, 2016.

The cast and crew members of the HBO hit series were present at SDCC to recap the recently concluded Season 6, as well as provide some insights about the upcoming Season 7, which will reportedly only have seven episodes.

“Game of Thrones” executive producer David Benioff said that winter is here and they have to shoot where there are trees. They are waiting to shoot later in 2016, and expect to finish sometime in February 2017. He continued that it is impossible to launch the show earlier than summer 2017. Previous seasons usually started in the spring.

The official Game of Thrones Facebook account also uploaded the teaser video featuring Season 7 already in production. The video featured several people working on the props. There were several shots of Lannister items.

There were voiceovers from Season 6, a shot of the Iron Throne, the Mountain’s armor and various weapons. Finally, someone said, “Welcome home, my queen,” hinting that the new season will most likely begin or revolve around Cersei as the new queen of the realm.

Entertainment Weekly notes that several fans and the actual people on the show already have opinions on who will ultimately sit on the Iron Throne. Director Miguel Saponik only said that he would be glad if the writers actually revealed to him the character, although it is unlikely to happen. Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos) said that he thinks The Night King will win the throne. John Bradley-West (Samwell Tarly) said that he wants Jon Snow (Kit Harington) to win, because it also means the survival of his character.

Nathalie Emmanual (Missandei) said that it would either be the Starks or Daenerys. Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) said that she wants Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) on the throne. Other suggestions included Arya (Maisie Williams), Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright), and Brienne (Gwendoline Christie). Others speculated that the show may end on a sad note with more great characters getting killed off.

More updates and details on “Game of Thrones” Season 7 are expected soon.
