The producers explained why “Game of Thrones” Season 7 release date has been delayed at the San Diego Comic-Con. Some of the cast members talked about their respective characters and teased some details about what happens next on the show.

[Spoiler alert]

Winter is finally here, Executive Producer David Benioff explained at the event, and that means that they can’t film at locations where there are trees full of green leaves. “We have to wait until leaves fall off,” Benioff said, TV Line reports. With the production pushed forward, the show will now premiere in the summer next year.

Talking about her character, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) said that the reason why Sansa didn’t tell her brother about the Knights of Vale is because she wanted all the credit. On the show, however, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) ended up getting their ancestral home of Winterfell and was also declared King in the North.

That may have an impact on the relationship between the two Stark siblings in “Game of Thrones” Season 7. Turner said that Sansa doesn’t think Jon Snow is “capable of running Winterfell and the North.” “She thinks he doesn’t have the intellect, the knowledge and the experience that she has … and I concur,” Turner said.

Turner, however, acknowledged that Jon Snow has the Stark morals in him and so he will “inevitably” make the “right decision.” “ But whether it’s going to benefit anyone is another story,” Turner said.

Jon Snow’s lineage will be an important aspect that will be explored even further in the next season. At the moment only Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) knows that his “brother” is actually the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Wright said that it is “imperative” for his character to “spread the word” about his brother, even though he doesn’t really understand why it’s important.

Wright teased that Bran will “somehow” tell Jon Snow about his real parents in “Game of Thrones” Season 7. However, he is not sure how his brother will react to a “Tree Wizard” who claims to have seen the past.
