Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) is a well-known character in “Game of Thrones” (“GOT”) who constantly shifts from villain to protagonist depending on the situation. He is often made fun of for being a eunuch and the sixth season’s episodes are going to reveal information about his past.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “Game of Thrones” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the new episode airs.

GOT fans are loving the Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Varys tandem. While viewers know about the latter’s back story, apparently, that is not the complete tale. There is speculation that he could be of royal blood. The events that occurred during his castration was not the same with other eunuchs. It may have included an act of blood magic, which is only done with people who belong to a royal bloodline, Time notes.

All of these revelations were uncovered when Tyrion and Varys decided to meet with the High Priestess of the Red Temple off Volantis. A new Red Woman emerges in the story line named Kinvara.

The red woman claims that the Mother of Dragons is the champion of the Lord of Light. This made Varys skeptical because Melisandre also made the same claim about Stannis. To prove her claims, Kinvara started to narrate the events during Varys’ castration when he was a boy, ABC News shares.

Kinvara was able to include details that only people present during the castration would know. She tells Varys that terrible things happen for a reason. Kinvara elaborates that if Varys was not mutilated in the hand of a second-rate sorcerer, he would not be where he is now. The red priestess emphasized that knowledge made Varys powerful, but there are more things to know.

Kinvara further went into details by asking Varys if he remembered what happened when the sorcerer tossed his parts into the fire. Varys apparently heard a voice calling out from the flames. The priestess further probed if he remembered what the voice said. As the priestess narrated all these, the eunuch was left mortified.

This is not the first time that viewers encountered the ‘voice’ in Varys’ head. In the episode where he narrates his castration to Tyrion, he mentioned the voice.

“I still dream of that night. Not of the sorcerer, not of his blade — I dream of the voice from the flames. Was it a god, a demon, a conjurer’s trick? I don’t know. But the sorcerer called and a voice answered and ever since that day I have hated magic and all those who practice it, ”Varys recounted.

Fans theorize that there is more to Varys’ than meets the eye. “Blood of My Blood,” the sixth episode of “Game of Thrones” Season 6 airs Sunday on HBO.
