'Game Of Thrones' Season 6 spoilers: Maisie Williams shares pictures and video showing bruised eyes

Maisie Williams has gotten bruises after wearing her think contact lenses while filming “Game of Thrones” Season 6. Production of the next season of the popular TV series is currently ongoing in Northern Ireland with reports of many of the cast members being spotted in Belfast.

Williams, who plays the role of Arya Stark on the show, shared a picture and a video on her Instagram account that showed her wearing an eye mask. The actress confirmed that it was due to the lenses in a tweet. Her eyes appear red and swollen. The actress may have to continue to wear the lenses because of the new direction her character has taken. [Spoiler alert]

Towards the end of the previous season of the show, Arya Stark was reprimanded by Jaqen H’ghar [Tom Wlaschiha] for killing the wrong man. Jaqen killed himself and Arya ended up becoming blind later. The actress had previously revealed in an interview to EntertainmentWeekly that the blinding scene was not CGI and she had to wear contacts for the scene.

“ I don’t want to wear these crazy contacts for the rest of my time on Thrones!” Williams said. The actress felt that being blind will make Arya “vulnerable” in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 and said that the prospect of playing a blind character was both “exciting” and “scary.” She also said that she was “worried” about playing the character with this handicap.

Williams has also expressed her concerns about playing a blind Arya and about those thick contacts, while answering fan questions on HBO’s official website. She said that her character going blind would be a “challenge” and later told another fan that “working with the contact lenses in [the eyes] is difficult so that will be a real challenge for the next season.”

The premiere episode of “Game of Thrones” Season 6 is expected to air sometime in April 2016. The Waif [Faye Marsay] took over the main position at the House of Black and White after she turned into Jaqen H’ghar in the previous season. The Waif may now be in charge of teaching Arya Stark to become a master assassin.
