Benjen Stark will be back for “Game of Thrones” (“GOT”) Season 6 to help Meera and his nephew Bran. Speculations of his return are strong among fans and theorists.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “Game of Thrones” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the new episode airs.

The long wait may be over for followers of Team Stark. News of Benjen Stark’s (Joseph Mawle) return has been circulating because of a mysterious clip in the upcoming sixth episode. The clip shows Bran and Meera being attacked by White Walkers. Consequently another clip showed a hooded man wearing black killing a White Walker in the same setting.

The mysterious man was on horseback. He was holding a flail that was on fire. He used the flail to instantly kill a white walker. He also looked like he was out in the cold for a long time. More so, Wildlings do not have horses. These give rise to the speculation that he comes from the south of the wall, Time reports.

The character of Benjen Stark was last seen in Season 1. He was preparing to leave Jon Snow to embark on a journey north of the wall. Whether he is still alive or not has been a mystery as he never got killed nor was mentioned to be dead in the show. Hence, it is speculated that he would return.

This is not the first time that news of Uncle Benjen’s return has been out. During the season finale of GOT for Season 5, many viewers expected Benjen to return from being lost. This was because of a misleading recap segment released by HBO.

There is also talk that the mysterious hooded man is Coldhands, a character in the book series. There are also some that say it may be a new character. It could also be a hybrid of Uncle Benjen and Coldhands. However, fans are still hoping that it is Uncle Benjen. Most viewers are gearing toward the Uncle Benjen theory since Season 1, especially because he told Jon Snow that they will talk about his mother when he returns, Vanity Fair writes.

Season 6 Episode 6, titled “Blood of my Blood,” will be aired on May 29 on HBO. It also airs on Foxtel in Australia.
