Two shocking events with regards to Jon Snow in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 episode 3 have filled the fans with anticipation about what is next for the character. In a recent interview, Kit Harington explained his character’s decisions and why they are important.

[Spoiler alert]

The first thing Jon Snow (Kit Harington) did after coming back to life was execute all the traitors at the Night’s Watch and then leave the organisation altogether. The first decision was understandable, but many were not expecting the death of Olly (Brenock O’Connor). Jon’s decision to leave also came as a surprise.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harington said that Jon Snow’s life at the Night’s Watch has ended. After his death, Jon saw that there is nothing on the other side and coming back he plans to lead a different life in order to help the seven kingdoms of Westeros. Having to kill Olly was the final straw for him and he had to leave.

The return of Jon Snow and him leaving the Night’s Watch opens up many opportunities for the character in “Game of Thrones” Season 6. The character can now play a more direct role in the major events of Westeros and also has a chance to sit on the Iron Throne.

Just as a new journey for Jon Snow begins, the long journey of Alliser Thorne (Owen Teale) has ended. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Teale said that he was initially not ready to sign his contract till he got some clarity about the future of his character.

Teale knew that having been responsible for Jon Snow’s death, his resurrection in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 would definitely have an impact on Teale’s character. Thorne rarely takes drastic action. So, the actor knew that the death would mean that he would either take over Castle Black or end up dying. It appears the actor was right on both counts.
