Daniel Portman talked about his character Podrick Payne and what his quest will be like in “Game of Thrones” Season 6, in a recent interview. The actor talked about how some people may consider Podrick to be “stupid,” which is not right.

[Spoiler alert]

Podrick has served one of the most brilliant minds in Westeros – Tyrion, and is now being trained by one of the best warriors in Westeros - Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie). In an interview with IGN, the actor said that some people consider him to be stupid because he doesn’t speak much. However, the actor pointed out that Podrick’s intellect is one of his “biggest assets.”

Portman pointed out that his character has shown his intellectual prowess in the past two seasons. “He picks up on things very quickly, and he is a very smart guy,” the actor said.

The actor said that being with Brienne has taught his character some “self-assurance.” Podrick has apparently realized that no one is going to hold his hand and he is going to have to put in enough efforts to learn what he wants.

The two characters will still be together when “Game of Thrones” Season 6 begins. Portman teased that the two characters will not be at the same place geographically as the last season, which means they may have moved away from the north.

The quest for Brienne will continue to be focused on the oath she took. Portman described her situation as being “back to square one,” as she has to once again go out in search of Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya (Maisie Williams). Will Brienne give up on Sansa and move on to find Arya instead? Portman himself is looking forward to some action for his character and wants to see him “step up” rather than be “subservient.”

“Game of Thrones” Season 6 is set to premiere on April 24. The producers have been asking fans on Twitter to name the characters that they think will die next on the show.
