'Game of Thrones' season 6 finale spoilers: The cost of Littlefinger saving the North for Sansa Stark
Original air date on HBO: June 26, 2016

“Game of Thrones” fans were relieved in Season 6’s penultimate episode when Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish (Aidan Gillen) arrived just in time to save Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and their losing forces against Ramsay Bolton’s (Iwan Rheon) army. This turned the tide on the Battle of the Bastards, helping the Starks recover Winterfell.
However, fans are intrigued about Littlefinger’s act and Sansa’s strategy of going behind her half-brother’s back to ask for help. Baelish is also not one to render services for free, so Sansa will most likely pay a huge price for the big victory.
Romper states that, before, it was obvious that Littlefinger was attracted to Sansa, considering how much he loved her dead mother. However, the two had a falling out and Sansa was firm in her decision to stay away from Baelish as long as possible. However, the dire need of recovering her home has pulled her back into him again. It is likely that the ambitious Littlefinger is aiming to take control of the North, where Winterfell is the key. It is likely that he is planning to prove to Sansa that he is not entirely evil and can be a good husband.
Vanity Fair notes how Sansa also has some similar traits with Baelish. She has developed a lot through the years that she even treated Rickon (Art Parkinson) like a pawn in the ultimate battle plan. Sansa has learned how to put her mind over her emotions. Even Jon Snow showed vulnerability when he tried to save Rickon and exposed himself to Ramsay’s arrows. Sansa remained composed throughout the ordeal. She stayed calm while Snow attacked Ramsay and subsequently let the latter’s dogs ravage him.
Whatever Littlefinger’s next move or price may be, Sansa is no longer the sensitive girl she used to be. She most likely expects what he wants in return and already has a counter to his every move. In the same manner that she has grown to know Ramsay, she expectedly reads the mind of Baelish just as well.
The Season 6 finale of “Game of Thrones” will air on June 26, 2016 on HBO. It will also air on Foxtel in Australia.
