“Game of Thrones” alum Ed Skrein is set to star in “The Transporter Refuelled,” which will premiere on Sept. 4. Playing Frank Martin, which was previously played by Jason Statham, Skrein said he is satisfied with his stunt double in the action thriller movie directed by Luc Besson, Adam Cooper and Camille Delamarre.

In a recent interview with Variety, Skrein said he was genuinely happy to let his talented stunt double named Pascal Lavanchy take the reins in “The Transporter Refuelled.” He said, “ I did the simple fun stuff, but we didn’t use a lot of CGI and he loves smashing up cars.”

For his breakout role as Frank Martin in “The Transporter Refuelled,” Skrein had an extensive training in martial arts. Prior to the film, the actor also had fitness trainings and worked as a former swimming coach.

According to Skrein, safety is paramount to “The Transporter Refuelled” crew. He added that he had a couple of bruises and scratches after filming the fourth instalment of the “Transporter” film franchise but he had “nothing some Ibuprofen can’t cure.”

Also, Skrein said he was satisfied with how he played Frank Martin although he has not been able to talk to Statham. He explained that he tried to reach out respectfully but he could not get through to the actor who is set to reprise his role as Deckard Shaw in “Furious 8.”

Skrein said it was important for him not to dwell on what Statham did in shaping the character Frank Martin. The “Game of Thrones” alum said said he was a fan of Statham’s action film “Revolver,” which was directed by Guy Ritchie and co-produced by Besson.

In another interview with USA Today, Skrein was asked what it was like to step in for Statham. He simply replied, “ There are these ongoing themes. It goes with the territory.”
