August is a month to remember for those who love gaming sales, as Microsoft will hold its annual Summer of Arcade promo, starting August 7.

Each week, there will be a sale for specific gaming titles, and Major Nelson, Xbox Live Community Manager, has just announced the titled scheduled for each week of August.

According to his blog, the Summer of Arcade promo will kick off with Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons, which will be on sale for 1,200 MS points, followed by Charlie Murder on August 14, for 800 points.

For the third week, Flashback will be on sale starting August 21 for 800 points, while capping off the month is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows on August 28, which can be yours for 1,200 MS points.

Those who will be availing of two games in the August Summer of Arcade lineup will get the Souls Pack for Ascend: Hand of Kul, absolutely free.

It's a great way to welcome the summer season--and an even better way to spend it, playing games whenever you can.

Apple's App Store 5-year Celebration

In lieu of the fifth year that the App Store has been giving the latest downloadable apps to iOS users, you can now find a string of free apps in the App Store, from games to lifestyle and finance, to even entertainment apps.

It seems that unspecified apps will be available at no charge for the entire week, as The Verge confirms that this movement is for Apple's celebration of the 5-year run of the App Store.

"Barefoot World Atlas went free this morning and will remain so all this week to help celebrate five years of the App Store," said CEO Max Whitby to The Verge.

This means that all the apps that were previously priced but are now offered for free will be available for download this week. Some of the games that are included in the list of free apps are Badland, Infinity Blade 2, Superbrothers, and Tiny Wings, reports CNet.

Start searching for more free apps, and have fun celebrating the fifth birthday of the iOS App Store!
