More and more Android devices are receiving Jelly Bean update lately, including the Canadian version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-I9250M. The said Nexus device has received an Android 4.2.1 update.

Google released two versions of Jelly Bean for Galaxy Nexus, the "takju" and "yakju" variants. For others, you might have to wait a little bit longer. Canadian users with Galaxy Nexus can now enjoy the new taste of Jelly Bean for their devices as it pushed by the manufacturer.

The "Yakjuux" version is the released update for Canada, and it contains Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean being pushed over the device. Many subscribers from Rogers, Fido, Telus and WIND said they have already installed the Galaxy Nexus latest update. However, this won't be the last update the Canadian will receive, Android 4.2.2 is the latest version of the mobile OS and hopefully will be released in the near future before Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is launched.

Expect changes from the update, including:

  • Daydream feature
  • Expandable and actionable notifications
  • Project Butter
  • Android Beam
  • New Widgets
  • Google Now
  • Photo Sphere
  • Gesture typing

An Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean from AOKP Build is also available but the ROM is still unofficial. According to the XDA thread, the custom ROM package is labelled as "Maguro," a code used for Canadian Galaxy Nexus as well. Do research if the AOKP build works perfectly with the Canadian device before flashing it to prevent bricking.

Here are some details about the Unofficial AOKP 4.2.2 Jelly Bean custom ROM - Maguro:

  • Build runs LeanKernel
  • CM File Manager
  • Sound Recorder
  • Apollo
