Aside from his “Fast and Furious” character Dominic Toretto, Vin Diesel is set to reprise other roles, including Xander Cage in the upcoming action film sequel “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.” He will reunite with Samuel L. Jackson, who will reprise his role as Agent Augustus Eugene Gibbons.

So far, only Diesel and Jackson have been confirmed to reprise their role among the cast members of the 2002 action film “xXx.” The original movie starred Asia Argento, Marton Csokas, Danny Trejo, Michael Roof, Richy Muller, Werner Daehn, Jan Pavel Filipensky, Tom Everett, Thomas Ian Griffith and William Hope, among others.

On the other hand, it has been announced that current UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor will be part of the “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” cast. On Dec. 15, Tuesday, sources told Fox Sports that a part had been offered to McGregor but the details on his role are yet to be finalised.

Directed by D.J. Caruso, “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” will mark McGregor’s acting debut. While he has expressed his interest in transitioning into acting in the future, the Irish mixed martial artist still considers fighting as his main focus as he is looking forward to returning to the Octagon in 2016.

The release date of “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” has yet to be set. It is currently in pre-production and filming is getting started, according to Coming Soon.

“Furious 8” producer Neal H. Moritz is on board to produce the upcoming action film sequel. John Brancato and Michael Ferris will write the screenplay based on the characters created by Rich Wilkes.

In 2017, Diesel will reprise his role as Dominic Toretto in “Furious 8” along with Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs, Vin Diesel, Ludacris as Tej Parker, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce and Michelle Rodriguez as Letti Ortiz Toretto. It will be directed by “Straight Outta Compton” director F. Gary Gray.
