Lisa Kudrow will be reunited with the “Friends” creator but not in a highly-requested return of the NBC sitcom. The actress has been tapped to appear in the upcoming “Grace and Frankie” season 4, the closest to a “Friends” reunion fans could get.

Kudrow, who played the role of Phoebe Buffay in the classic ’90s hit comedy, revealed that a reunion of the original cast members of "Friends" is unlikely at the moment. She admitted that she can’t imagine what the show will be like for the characters if they get back together on television.

She said the new storyline wouldn’t make sense, especially to those familiar with the show. “What’s it going to be about? Really, how is it going to work? This is what everybody is forgetting. They no longer hang out at the coffee shop, they have all moved away,” Kudrow told Heat World.

The actress added that the cast members’ schedules would also make the reunion impossible. “It would be great [if it happened]. But even just from a logistical purpose, it would never work because everyone is on a totally, ridiculous work schedule … It’s even impossible for us to get together for dinner, it’s really hard,” she added.

Co-star Matt LeBlanc currently hosts “Top Gear” and also appears in “Man with a Plan.” Matthew Perry is in “The Good Fight” and “The Kennedys: After Camelot.” David Schwimmer recently appeared as Robert Kardashian in critically-acclaimed “The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” while Jennifer Aniston starred in the 2017 war film “The Yellow Birds.”

Meanwhile, Netflix has renewed “Grace and Frankie” for another season on Wednesday and added Kudrow to the cast. This marks a reunion for Kudrow and “Friends” creator Marta Kauffman, who also created “Grace and Frankie.” The two have not worked together since the NBC comedy wrapped up in 2004 after 10 seasons.

In its official Twitter account, the Netflix show welcomed the actress to the family. Kudrow will have a recurring guest role as Sheree, Grace's (Jane Fonda) longtime manicurist. The friendship between the two is set to irk Frankie (Lily Tomlin) and threaten to cause a conflict.

The series’ season 3 concluded last month, showing Grace and Frankie embarking on a new venture to create the perfect sex toy for women of a certain age. Their ex-husbands Robert (Martin Sheen) and Saul (Sam Waterston), on the other hand, continue to navigate married life after admitting they are gay.

“Grace and Frankie” season 4 is scheduled to stream on Netflix in 2018. The series’ seasons 1 through 3 are still available to stream on Netflix.
