Frankie Edgar was impressive in his Fight Night 57 victory over Cub Swanson, ending the American's six-fight winning streak with a rear naked choke just four seconds before the fifth round culminated to a scorecard review. The former UFC lightweight champion took the microphone post-fight and was adamant that he did enough to warrant the title match that was promised to Swanson.

"This had a little more implications just because that title shot's looming, and certain people were promised it," Edgar said on the FOX Sports 1 post-fight show. "I just beat the guy who was promised it, so I'm hoping I take that spot."

The "Answer" called out UFC President Dana White saying that he poured his best to merit a showdown rematch with current featherweight champion Jose Aldo. The 33-year-old fighter recorded close to 250 strikes in game and seven take downs that obviously surprised the normally efficient Swanson, who has a history of finding trouble with wrestlers. The New Jersey native put Swanson on his back for much of the almost 30-minute contest. Not only that, Edgar showed his versatility by mixing up strikes with take downs and shifting from half guard to full guards to throw off Swanson's strategy.

The defeated challenger in the recently concluded match admitted that he was unprepared for Edgar and appreciates the beating he took as a way to improve on his game. The jiu-jitsu black belt holder was promised by White a title fight with Aldo if ever he wins the bout but the loss just opens other possibilities on the next fight with the reigning Brazilian champion Aldo.

The final two choices would likely fall between Edgar and Irish sensation Conor McGregor. Touted as the next big thing in the Octagon, McGregor is set to strut his wares against Dennis Siver on Jan 18. at UFC Fight Night 59 to be held in Boston. The trash-talking Irishman has been adamant on rising to the top of the totem pole but Edgar is saying that he does not concern himself with the contender and only has "tunnel vision" towards the title, which goes through Aldo.
